This is a real recorder with a special feature: it can allow or block the air passage according to the magician’s desire. This creates very funny situations, and it’s highly recommended for working with children or adults.
It can also be used to reveal cards, money, and so on. After showing its sound, the magician hands the recorder to a participant that will not be able to play it. Then the magician dismantles the recorder and finds the chosen card (or anything that was used during the trick) inside it.
To perform it for adults, the game includes a gimmick that allows the magician to make the recorder release an important quantity of saliva (water) to show why it has not been working. Then he can ask innocently: “Would you like to try again?”
